Cong. Edgar Chatto again is pushing for the establishment of the Bohol branch of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).
The first district representative handed a formal communication regarding this matter to BSP Governor Felipe Medalla during the budget hearing on September 28, 2022 of the Department of Finance (DOF).
The BSP is an attached agency of the DOF.
Chatto has been asserting that the establishment of the BSP branch here was approved by the Monetary Board a long time ago.
The establishment of a BSP branch here was approved during the term of then BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco and pursued by the late BSP Governor Nestor A. Espenilla, Jr., Chatto said.
In fact, a parcel of lot was purchased by the BSP in the municipality of Dauis for the purpose of constructing the branch in Bohol, Chatto said.
