Cong. Edgar Chatto met with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Sumitomo Electric officials and Maribojoc Mayor Romy Manuta to inspect the Cebu-Bohol 230KV Interconnection Project located in the said town.

Maribojoc is the host of the Submarine Cable Portion Second Cable Pull-in, which will connect Bohol to the power supply coming from Cebu province.

NGCP officials, in an earlier visit of Chatto, committed to the completion of the project by November 2023.

Chatto, as then governor of Bohol, formed the Bohol Energy Development Advisory Group (BEDAG) to ensure sufficient, reliable, affordable power supply for the province.

The Cebu-Bohol Interconnection Project provides redundancy as new power supply contracts of Bohol’s distribution utilities using the existing Leyte-Bohol interconnection begin on December 16, 2023.

The Energy Development Corporation is also building an inland power plant as backup in the event power coming from Leyte and Cebu becomes unavailable.
