ACEMC, Siemens sign contract for future cath lab

Allied Care Experts Medical Center (ACEMC) and Siemens Healthineers signed a contract to build a future catherterization laboratory or a cath lab with the aim to serve the needs of the Boholano people.

The partnership between ACEMC and Siemens aims to build a catherization laboratory or a cath lab here, which promises to be the first of its kind in Bohol.

According to ACEMC medical director Dr. Jane Ramiro, the cath lab will be up and running by the end of this year.

Dr. Jane Ramiro added the contract signing is an important event for ACEMC and the healthcare industry in Bohol.

The cardiac cath lab will be performing invasive procedure for patients with heart problems.

She quipped with the lab in place patients need not to go to Cebu City or other places just to get this kind of invasive procedure done.

Dr. Valerie Ramiro, the managing director of the cath lab, the new facility will provide interventional cardiology, which is a sub-specialty .

The cath lab normally has an imaging equipment used to check the various parts of the heart to help treat any abnormality.

The cath lab also provides several medical procedures such as angiogram, angioplasty, and implantation of pacemakers.

The cath lab usually treats patients with coronary artery disease, heart chest pain, and congestive heart failure among others.

THE PRESIDENT’S VISION

In his speech, ACEMC’s president Dr. Ronald Ramiro revealed his vision for the upcoming cathlab to be built in the said hospital.

He said the contract signing for the building of the new cath lab “opens a new frontier” in the healthcare system in Bohol.

The future cathlab is the fulfillment of his dream to make advanced medical services available to the province.

The new modality aims to help restore a sick person recover and become healthier, he said.

Dr. Ronald Ramiro, also took the opportunity during his speech, to thank everyone who share in his vision for the said hospital.

PLANS AND VISION OF CATH LAB’S DIRECTOR

Dr: Valerie Ramiro shared her vision on the lab with guests during the contract signing with Siemans.

In her speech, Dr. Valerie Ramiro said the innovations in the field of cardiology is rapidly growing and there is a need to provide services to heart disease patients.

It is said that heart disease has been constantly ranking as the reason for mortality and morbidity worldwide.

As such, more research and development has been poured into cardiovascular disease mitigation.

She added that one of the major innovations has been the catheterization and other interventions such as coronary angioplasty.

Coronary angioplasty has been widely adopted and the technology has improved over the years ensuring patient survival and extending longevity.

“It is important for us cardiologists that we are able to provide the right standard of care to our patients and the Boholanos don’t get left behind,” she said in her speech.

Interventions during heart attacks are time sensitive and there is a narrow golden period to provide the right treatment to those who are suffering from a heart attack and improve the chances of survival by minimizing the damage to the heart.

She added that each minute wasted results to the death of the heart.

“The nearest cath labs are in Cebu and we know it is not easy to transfer our patients immediately,” she explained.

After 47 years since the first cath lab was established in the Philippines via the Heart Center, now Bohol gets a chance to own one via ACEMC.

“It is our hope that this cath lab will become a beacon for more inteventionalists and operators from all other sub-specialties to come to Bohol and be part of our growing medical community,” she added.

SIEMENS PART

Juan Miguel Tan, the President and Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers gave his support to the plan of ACEMC to build a cath lab.

Tan said his company has been partnering with ACEMC by providing quality equipment since the very start of the hospital’s operation back in 2019.

His company is excited to participate in the plans of the ACEMC to build the cath lab. The cath lab will be spefial being the first of its kind in the province.
