APDC denies involvement re complainant vs. city gov’t

Ashira Properties Development Corporation (APDC) denied any involvement with a certain person who made a very aggressive stance raising his gripes against the city government.

The issue stems from the stance of a person complaining that the city government allegedly made it difficult for APDC to get approval of its housing project in barangay San Isidro.

The person reportedly stood and aired his complaint during the open forum portion of the Housing Summit organized by the Organization of Socialized Housing Developers of the Philippines (OSHDP).

The summit was held at Be Grand Resort on Oct. 14, 2022 attended by mayors from other areas in the country and senior level national officials, according to Mayor Jane Yap.

The summit was supposed to be attended by Senate President Miguel Zubiri and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Benjamin Abalos Jr., but reports say they were unable to attend the affair.

In a statement, Ardy Araneta-Batoy, who is an officer of APDC, (and with the blessing of company owner Cylwin Bomediano) said that the company is satisfied with the way the affairs of the city government were and are run especially  by former  Mayor John Geesnell Yap II and being carried on by the incumbent Mayor Jane Yap.

Batoy said that based on the decision of Bomediano, APDC did not send any representative to the summit as it is not mandated by law to do so. In fact, Batoy added that APDC belongs to another organization and not with the OSHDP.

Batoy added that as far as the San Isidro housing project is concerned, the very persons responsible for its management are Bomediano and his family. All responsibility related to the project is now in the hands of Bomediano and his family and not on anybody else.

Batoy added that while it is true that the APDC San Isidro project had another partner before, the said business partner was no longer part of the project as of Jan. 15, 2020. Hence, effective this date, all persons authorized to represent the APDC San Isidro Project should have the approval of the APDC President and CEO who is Cylwin Bomediano. In the case of the Summit complaint that was allegedly aired by an APDC person against the City, Bomediano never authorized such representative to air his gripe on behalf of the APDC.

Batoy added that APDC is not apologizing for the actions of the unauthorized person because the company was never involved nor aware of the actions made by the said person.

In an interview, Mayor Jane Yap confirmed that there was indeed a person who stood up and complained about the inability of the city government to approve the housing project at San Isidro district.

The mayor graciously told the person that the Summit’s Open Forum was not the appropriate venue to discuss any problems with the housing project, which drew appreciation from the crowd, according to some reports.

As this developed, Batoy clarified that all APDC projects in Tagbilaran City have been approved by both the executive and legislative departments without any fuss.
