Chatto lauds BISU on its 13th Charter Day

“A thought a dream a reality,” Cong. Edgar Chatto quoted a line from the Bohol Island State University (BISU) hymn to depict the journey of the state university from its humble beginnings to its lofty stature today.

The congressman was the guest of honor during the 13th Charter Day celebrations held at the BISU Balilihan Campus on Oct. 14, 2022.

Chatto, author of the BISU law, congratulated the State University for obtaining a badge of pride and excellence as he recounted the difficult journey of converting the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT) into BISU.

“BISU plays an important role in making Bohol achieve its dream as a prime eco tourism destination, agro-industrial province, with regard for health, education, culture and arts and the environment,” he stated of the university’s support in the province’s labor force,” the solon said.

Further developments can be expected at BISU as Chatto initiated the opening of the College of Medicine as well as the expansion of the BISU Balilihan Campus to establish a tourism and sports institute.

Chatto joined past and present BISU officials including former president Dr. Regucivilla Pobar, former Balilihan Campus Director Dr. Virgilia Tejada, Balilihan Campus Director Dr. Arceli Hernando, Balilihan local government unit officials led by Mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto and Vice Mayor Trisha Chatto as well as officials, administrators, faculty, staff, students of its other campuses.

BISU Board of Regents Chairperson and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Jo Mark Libre and OIC BISU President Dr. Maura Consolacion Cristobal also delivered virtual messages during the charter day celebration.
