Wisdom Tooth Problems and Treatment (Part 3)

What are the symptoms associated with wisdom tooth impaction?

Wisdom teeth impaction might show the following symptoms: jaw pain, bad breath, red or gums swelling around the jaw, tender or bleeding gums, difficulty of opening your mouth, an unpleasant taste in your mouth.
A patient with the mentioned symptoms should see a dentist as well as a referred

oral surgeon if he experiences adverse effects, symptoms, or complications within the area behind your last molar that might be linked with wisdom tooth impaction. The dentist will be able to figure out what’s going on.
Wisdom tooth impaction happens because there’s not enough room at the back of the

mouth for the wisdom tooth to emerge or erupt. The wisdom tooth have to squeeze in tight, resulting in most of them remaining under the gumline forming of gum flaps that serve as bacteria and leftover food collector.
Wisdom tooth typically emerges around the age of 17 to 25, hence, the name of the type of teeth.

In most cases, the mouth is too small and crowded to allow for the emergence of wisdom teeth.

In our next coumn, we will continue with the reasons behind wisdom tooth impaction or the emergence of

third molars.
