Panglao, Corella, Jagna, Inabanga bag top awards in CMCI index summit

Four (4) municipalities in the Province of Bohol were able to make their way to this year’s summit receiving a total of 8 awards in different categories.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Competitiveness Bureau, held the 10th Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Summit at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay, Metro Manila last October 20, 2022.

The municipality of Corella is ranked 3rd among the 5th to 6th Class municipalities.

The town of Panglao is ranked 4th among the 3rd to 4th Class municipalities when it came to being the most competitive town in the country.

On Economic Dynamism Pillar, the municipality of Panglao is ranked 1 under the 3rd to 4th Class Municipalities Category.

Other winners include the following: municipality of Jagna – 6th in the Economic Dynamism Pillar; municipality of Panglao – 2nd on Infrastructure Pillar under the 3rd to 4th Class Municipalities Category; municipality of Corella – 7th  under the 5th to 6th Class Municipalities Category; municipality of Corella – 6th on Innovation Pillar under the 5th to 6th Class Municipalities Category; municipality of Inabanga – 7th on Resiliency Pillar under the 3rd to 4th Class Municipalities Category.

Mayor Edgardo Arcay of Panglao personally received the awards for the said town. DTI-Bohol Provincial Director Maria Soledad Balistoy who was present during the summit received the awards on behalf of the municipality of Corella.

In 2021, it can be noted that Panglao got Rank 1 on Economic Dynamism Pillar and Rank 2 on Infrastructure Pillar under the 3rd to 4th Class Municipalities Category.

The CMCI is a program that aims to measure the performance of cities and municipalities in the country based on five (5) pillars namely: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation. The program also aims to share best practices across the different regions allowing cities and municipalities to benchmark their performance against local and global standards.
