<strong>Former CDA head helps hone local tennis enthusiasts’ skills</strong>

The former administrator of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) is helping tennis enthusiasts, especially from Catigbian town, hone their skills by way of a tennis tournament.

This was the revelation of Benjie Oliva during a radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on Nov. 10, 2022, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

Oliva said that he sees tennis as a great way to discover talents especially among the youth of Catigbian.

He shared the information that Catigbian produced tennis athletes before and competed in national tournaments before the pandemic.

He said he wants to help the youth gain more experience and train young people to become good tennis players so that one day they become superstars in the said field. 

In a text message, Oliva said that the tournament is dubbed as the 1st Benjie Oliva Tennis Tournament and doubles tennis competition (Class B) and shall be staged at the Catigbian Tennis Court from Dec. 2 to 4, 2022.

The champion gets a cash prize of P15,000 with a trophy; the runner-up shall get P8,000 and a trophy; and the semi-finalists get P8,000.

Meanwhile, Oliva revealed that the Pamayanang Handa (PH) Cares and the Rotary Club of Pasay Cyber City conducted a medical mission in Getafe town on Nov. 10, 2022.

The medical mission was a success according to Oliva where several residents of the town received wheelchairs. The group will return to Getafe to deliver more wheelchairs to those who are in need.

The Rotary Club of Pasay Cyber City is headed by its president Jun Pasion, who also conducted a medical mission in Ubay town back in July 2022.
