Top pulmonologist reveals Covid can impact even mental health

Top pulmonologist Dr. Bryan Cepedoza revealed that Coronavirus disease (Covid) can also cause a huge impact on the brain, and not just on the lungs and on other vital organs.

Cepedoza made the revelation during a radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on Nov. 9, 2022, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

He said that there are instances that the Covid virus can

cause bleeding in the brain, as he mentioned a patient of his who suffered brain injuries related to Covid.

He said that, indeed, the Covid virus can cause multi-organ injury not just on the lungs – the primary destination of the virus when it enters the body of a human being.

Thus, there is a need for people to protect themselves from the virus by continuously observing the health and safety protocol and by getting vaccinated.

The doctor also said that vaccines can help bring down the chances of the transmission of the virus especially in the vulnerable sectors such as the senior citizens and those with comorbidities.

Cepedoza added that there will come a time when Covid will become just like tuberculosis and will be considered in an endemic situation.

The likelihood of deaths and hospital admissions due to Covid will continue to drop as long as more people become vaccinated and continue observing the protocol to protect themselves.

Cepedoza is the leading expert in Covid treatment in Bohol as he has been working at the frontlines to save lives during the height of the pandemic.
