The Regional Director of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said that the community plays an important part in the rollout of cellsites especially in the countryside.
Frederick Amores mentioned this during a radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on Nov. 23, 2022 hosted by Dave Albarado.
He admitted that there is a huge challenge when it comes to rolling out cellsites and improve connectivity in the countryside and the government could not do it alone.
Amores said that people would often resist the installation of cellsites in their area due to fears about radiation.
However, as a consequence, the telecom companies are unable to install more cellsites for better connectivity because of the resistance of some residence to have communications equipment nearby.
As such, the community plays a huge part in improving the connectivity by allowing cellsites to be installed in their localities.
Moreover, Amores noted that there is less resistance seen in Bohol in terms of cellsite installation, thus there is a huge possibiliry that connectivity will soon improve here.
