SP okays 2023 budget in 1st reading

Board Member Aldner Damalerio

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved on first reading the proposed budget ordinance for 2023 of the provincial government during the last regular session on Nov. 29, 2022.

Board Member Aldner Damalerio, a member of the Committee on Appropriations, said the P3.9-billion proposed budget was approved and will undergo a second reading next week.

He said that the proposed budget is the product of several weeks of marathon budget hearings attended by different heads of offices of the provincial government.

The proposed budget will now be subjected to deliberations by the plenary and this is the time to introduce adjustments, Damalerio said in an interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on Dec. 1, 2022, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.

It has been reported that the 2023 proposed budget is 8 percent lower compared to the 2022 budget due to the decline in the National Tax Allocation (NTA) received by local government units.
