Boholano wins first prize for poetry in Palanca awards

RAMIL DIGAL GULLE

A Boholano reached anew the summit of Philippine literature when he received awards for his literary work at the recent Palanca awards.

Ramil Digal Gulle, a Boholano, won first prize for his poetry anthology in English called Bol-anon Prodigal. This is the second time Gulle won first prize in the Palanca Awards.

The Bohol Tribune managed to connect with Gulle who traces his roots to Bohol and who visited the province only last May.

The Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature is the pinnacle of literature awards and known as the local version of the Pultizer Prize.

The awards recognized the best literary works during an event on Nov. 30, 2022 at Marquis Events Place at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

He currently works as a content director in a public relations company and he is an alumnus of the University of Santo Tomas.

In a chat with Gulle, he said that while he was born in Manila, his mother is from Batuan and his father is from Candijay. He speaks fluent Visayan, English and Tagalog.

Moreover, Gulle first bagged the Palanca Award as First Prize Winner in Poetry in 1996.

He also published a collection of poems called Textual Relations, which is the poet’s eroticization of realty through language.
