The brightest and merriest of seasons is now around the corner and the City Government of Tagbilaran is welcoming Christmas 2022 with an array of bright and real bright lanterns glowing around the entire City Hall premises.
City Mayor Jane Yap and Vice-Mayor Adam Relson Jala led the lighting ceremonies on Nov. 28, 2022, with Bishop Abet Uy, Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, Provincial Board Members Atty. Benjie Arcamo, Lucille Lagunay, Aldner Damalerio, and the chief of staff of Cong. Edgar Chatto, Abeleon Damalerio, in attendance.
Acting City Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha, former Mayor John Geesnell Yap II, and City Councilors Jonas Cacho, Elizier Borja, and Nerio Zamora II also joined in the celebration.
City Mayor Jane Yap said it is just fitting to celebrate the Christmas Season with style since Bohol was not able to do it in the last two years due to the Coronavirus disease (Covid) pandemic and typhoon Odette.
“Our celebration this year holds such meaning after experiencing major calamities in the past two years. We have highlighted the stars as the centerpiece of our Christmas decorations to symbolize hope and light. Amidst these trying times, we need not lose our track and we should continue to nurture our hope. We have also made this occasion meaningful to the children as the whole City Hall Family prepared games and goodies for the kids,” Mayor Jane Yap said.
The occasion also saw the blessing of the nativity scene and the advent wreath.
The dancing fountain at the City Hall grounds remains to be the centerpiece as some commercial establishments also installed Christmas lanterns that add up to the lighted stretch of some of city’s streets.
The decorations found inside the City Hall are installed courtesy of the employees of the City Government.
