First District Cong. Edgar Chatto was honored by University of the Philippines School of Economics (UPSE) Alumni Association (UPSEAA) for his outstanding public service together with fellow alumni who also served in government.
The UPSEAA in a Thanksgiving Ceremony and Conferment of Public Service Awards recognized its distinguished alumni on November 29, 2022 at the Astoria Plaza in Pasig City.
Aside from Chatto, other distinguished alumni awardees in public service include the following: former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Maria Almasara Cyd Tuaño-Amador, Department of Finance’s former Assistant Secretary Ma. Teresa Habitan and Bureau of Treasury National Treasurer Rosalia De Leon.
Chatto, a member of Class 1981 of the UP School of Economics, was himself given the same distinction during the 50th founding anniversary of the UPSE in 2015.
The solon was cited alongside public servants namely former President now Deputy Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Cong. Stella Quimbo, Cong. Roman Romulo, and Cong. Peter Calderon.
Cabinet secretaries serving the present administration were also recognized including Gov. Felipe Medalla of the BSP, Secretary Arsenio Balisacan of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Secretary Benjamin Diokno of the Department of Finance (DOF), Secretary Mina Pangandaman of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), and Secretary Enrique Manalo of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The UPSEAA also acknowledged former Director General of NEDA Karl Kendrick Chua, Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra, former Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, former Cong. Christopher Belmonte, former Cong. Cyrille Abueg-Zaldivar, former Cong. Isagani Amatong and former National Anti Poverty Commission Secretary Liza Maza.
