Dengue cases here increase by almost 1,000%

The dengue reporting units have mentioned an increase of almost 1000% based on data from January to November 2022, compared to the same period last year.

Leonardo Saniel of the Provincial Health Office said that 2,447 cases have been reported in 2022 as there were only 225 cases reported in 2021 or an increase of 987.6%.

Moreover, Saniel called on local government units (LGU) to create an ordinance in order to control the spread of dengue in their respective localities.

The disease-carrying mosquitoes also appear during the summer months not just during the rainy season.

Saniel suggested to the LGUs to intensify the information drive in order to make people aware about the disease.

It has been noted there are some towns here in Bohol still without anti-dengue ordinances creating the purok dengue task force.

Prevention remains the most effective way to counter the spread of dengue.

It is important to destroy the living spaces of mosquitoes that carry the dengue virus in order to control the disease.
