Baclayon mayor Alvin Uy congratulated youngster Liznie Delfino for bringing honor to her town and family in the event of track and field.
Delfino won 2 silvers and a bronze medal in the 2022 Batang Pinoy National Championships.
The Batang Pinoy Championships is a grassroots competition organized by the Philippine Sports Commission to discover new talents that eventually compete abroad.
This year’s Batang Pinoy competitions were held in Ilocos Sur from December 17 to 22, 2022, according to reports.
“Daghang salamat Liznie Delfino for placing our beloved town, Baclayon, and our province, Bohol, in the map of the world of sports! Congratulations to you and your proud parents!” Mayor Uy said in a post.
Bohol has been on the roll when it comes to producing athletes.
Just recently, professional boxer Virgil Vitor won his bout against his Korean foe in Calape, Bohol.
Moreover, Bohol has also produced quality weightlifters led by Vanessa Sarno from Tagbilaran City and Dauis.
