Top pulmonologist warns public against asbestos exposure

Dr. Bryan Cepedoza

Top pulmonologist Dr. Bryan Cepedoza warned the public about the use of asbestos especially in homes as it can lead to cancer.

Asbestos is a mineral used for insulation in homes but known to be carcinogenic and could cause lung cancer and asbestosis.

Thus, this material has become notorious to be a health hazard and should be avoided.

The doctor said that asbestos is far more dangerous then smoking and this is the reason not to use the material as insulation from extreme temperatures.

The doctor made the appeal during his radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa on Dec. 21, 2022.

Moreover, the doctor cautioned the public on the excessive use of antibiotics in the treatment of coughs.

There are situations where antibiotics are ineffective against cough especially if the reason for the disease is not bacterial.

It would help to see a doctor rather than self-medicate as there could be more appropriate treatments than using antibiotics.

Cepedoza said frequent use of antibiotics can lead to resistance to such antibiotic making it more difficult to treat bacterial infections in the future.
