Cong. Edgar Chatto revealed that Speaker Martin Romualdez donated P1 million of the latter’s personal money to the victims of the Tagbilaran fire incident.
Chatto revealed the information in a Facebook post over the weekend.
He said each family is getting P12,000 while the family of the three fatalities get P100,000.
Speaker Romualdez’s help is coursed through the office of Chatto, according to reports.
Chatto, together with wife Balilihan mayor Pureza and Vice Mayor Trisha were among the officials who visited the fire victims on Dec. 23, 2022 and extended help coming from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other government agencies.
Meanwhile, Tagbilaran City mayor Jane Yap expressed her thanks to the people who donated things, etc. for the benefit of the fire victims.
The mayor asked people to donate construction materials to help the victims build a new home in a new site prepared for them.
