The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the 31st of January 2023 as the last day for the voters’ registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) set on Oct. 30, 2023. The eligible persons may now register so they can vote in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
This was the pronouncement of lawyer Eliseo Labaria, the Comelec provincial supervisor, in an interview over Open Forum on Jan. 3, 2023, hosted by Gloria Leodivica Araneta.
Labaria said that people who have transferred residences, change their surnames for one reason or another, or who have added vital information, will be accepted by the Comelec until the end of the year.
He said any person who is 18 years old may register and should bring a valid government ID.
Labaria said that in the Sangguniang Kabataan elections, there are 2 groups that can register
* The first group is composed of those people who are 15 years old to 17 years old, and they can vote IN the SK elections alone.
* The second group is composed of those who are already 18 years old, and who are included in the main list of regular voters, Labaria explained.
