ERC sets plan to visit Bohol soon

ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION
CHAIRPERSON MONALIZA DIMALANTA

A team from the Energy Regulation Commission (ERC) will visit Bohol soon to inspect the power supply status in the province.

Reports say that ERC chairman Monaliza Dimalanta and Engr. Jun Galang were consulted about the power supply concerns of Bohol and the commission officials decided to visit Bohol to inspect the real situation.

The main concern of Boholano consumers is the price of electricity which is a problem not just in Bohol but in other areas in the country.

Based on the statements of Board Member Aldner Damalerio, he said that the generation charge is the main reason for the high cost of electricity being passed on to consumers.

He added that the high cost of fuel and coal is the main reason the generation charge is costly.

Moreover, the ERC will take a look at how the local distribution utilities ultimately shift their source of power from traditional fuel to renewable energy.

By the end of 2023, majority of Bohol’s power will come from geothermal sources from plants of the Energy Development Corporation.
