“Avatar: The Way of Water” at Screenville Cinemas

The highly-anticipated sequel to the highest grossing film of all time from legendary filmmaker James Cameron, “Avatar: The Way of Water”, is breaking box office records worldwide.    

In the Philippines, “Avatar: The Way of Water” reopens today, January 8, in all theaters nationwide, including Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall, after temporarily out for two weeks because of the 48th Metro Manila Film Festival.      

        The MTRCB rated “Avatar: The Way of Water” with PG (Parental Guidance) where children can watch the film as along as accompanied by parents or elders.  

The film is set more than a decade after the events of the first film where the Sully family — Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their kids now settle on the planet of Pandora. A familiar threat returns to finish what their family started, bringing Jake and Neytiri together with the army of the Na’vi race to protect their homeDirected by Academy Award-winning filmmaker James Cameron (“Titanic,” “The Terminator”), “Avatar: The Way of Water” features a stellar ensemble of cast with both new and returning members such as Sigourney Weaver (“Kiri”), Stephen Lang (“Miles Quaritch”), Cliff Curtis (“Tonowari”), Giovanni Ribisi (“Parker Selfridge”), and Kate Winslet (“Ronal”).

“Plane” at Screenville Cinemas

An action-thriller about a pilot surviving the aftermath of an emergency landing in hostile territory, “Plane” will premiere on Wednesday, January 11, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.  

Commercial pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) makes a successful emergency landing after his plane sustains critical damage from a storm. He soon realizes that the island he’s landed on is Jolo, a remote area of the Philippines ruled by heavily armed anti-government militias. 

A local militia leader finds the passengers and takes them hostage, intending to secure large ransoms from their families. With international rescue experts struggling to find their location and running out of time, Brodie is left with no choice but to free a convicted murderer he was tasked with transporting and team up with him to save the passengers and find a way off the island.

“PLANE” will premiere on Wednesday, January 11, at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
