Cashless transactions in public market to be launched in Tagb

A cashless transaction program in a public market here in the city will be launched on Jan. 10, 2023, according to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

The City Government of Tagbilaran is launching the PalengkeQR at the City Central Market in barangay Dao.

The program is part of the digitalization program of the city under the leadership of Mayor Jane Yap.

The PalengkeQR is the latest program of the city using digital technology in the payment of goods and services in markets in Tagbilaran City.

The program enables consumers to pay for their purchases without the need of using cash but only through the PalengkaQR.

Coincidentally, the app is a tangible support to the thrust of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to move money using digital platforms.

Several apps already enable the people of Tagbilaran to hail a tricycle and pay for the fare through digital means.

The City Government has introduced the Pazada app as a means to get a tricycle and pay the fare without using physical money.
