THE NAVARA CHRONICLES “FAST AND FURIOUS “: EAT MY DUST

No other car brand has been “infamously”  popular these days than the reliable, sturdy pickup truck, manufactured by the multinational Japanese carmaker NISSAN, equally made more famous by the daring escape of its former top executive who fell from grace, Carlos Ghosn.

NISSAN is a well known Japanese brand known for cool comfort in all its vehicles.  In a hot and humid environment like ours, nothing beats the airconditioned comfort a luxurious ride provides, one that  NISSAN, with its long history of manufacturing reliability can deliver.

Their vehicles are built with confidence such that they come with a standard (5) five year warranty apart from a more than average price tag. Any vehicle owner worth his salt can attest that NISSAN spareparts and “casa” maintenance costs are more expensive than the average TOYOTA or MITSUBISHI popular models.

Thus it is understandable that people look to it with a degree of luxury. The NAVARA with its 8 variants, has gained widespread popularity and acceptance for its class and is among the top selling pickups in the likes of TOYOTA’S HILUX models.

In Bohol, everywhere you look around in our streets, chances are you’ll see NAVARA pickups outnumber the others. This is probably one reason why our lawmakers joined in the bandwagon and decided to put the NISSAN NAVARA on their wish-list.

Yet, they opted for a high end version far from the cheaper, entry level model that could virtually serve the same purpose, as observant netizens are quick to point out. While more same vehicles on the road are a testament to its reliability, it also means that the cost of these vehicles cannot be hidden from plain sight as it becomes public knowledge.

In this day and age of the internet, online selling and inquiries can easily be done at the click of the mouse. The internet does wonders for everyone and information is easily accessible. Gone were the days when price negotiations can be kept hush-hush and done in whispers.

The NAVARA’S popularity is at best a testament to its dependability as well as its accessibility. That the capitol’s purchase of these vehicles comes at a time when many are clamoring for more government intervention to allay the effects of an ailing economy to help us out, does not bode well.

Yet, for whatever it is, the price tag for the NISSAN NAVARA 2.5VE 4WD manual variant leaves us biting the dust!
