More than 600 families return to their homes after evacuation

More than 600 families have now returned to their respective homes after they were asked to evacuate to safety following the heavy rains that battered Bohol for 2 days, according to Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office chief Dr. Anthony Damalerio.

Bohol, on Jan. 11 and 12, 2023 experienced heavy rains brought about by a low pressure area (LPA) spotted in Mindanao.

The heavy rainfall led authorities to ask residents near hazardous areas to evacuate to prevent loss of lives and any untoward incident.

As this developed, the rains stopped on Jan. 13, 2023 and classes and work in government offices were ordered resumed after getting suspended a day earlier.

It was mentioned in an earlier advisory from the Capitol that work stoppage was for both the public and private offices.

Then, there was a change in the advisory where the work stoppage in the private sector will be based on the discretion of the private office’s management.

Moreover, Damalerio admitted during the Open Forum radio program that there was an error in the release of information. Damalerio said that the error came from the I.T. group of the provincial government. In fact, Damalerio said, the governor and the provincial administrator both called the attention of the I.T. group regarding the error – an error that cause confusion among some of the Boholano workers.

Meanwhile, Inabanga mayor Jono Jumamoy reported that no lives were lost during the height of the heavy rains that battered his town of Inabanga. He said the forced preemptive evacuation helped a lot in the prevention of the loss of lives.

In a related news, a house near the approach of the bridge in Pilar collapsed as the heavy rains progress during the heavy rainfall. According to Capt. Georgie Sarabosing, chief of the Pilar police station, there was no casualty after the incident near the bridge at barangay Pamacsanan. As of the moment, the said bridge is temporarily closed, according to Sarabosing.
