<strong>PPOC allots P419M for 2023 peace, order programs</strong>

Fighting against criminality and insurgency to obtain a peaceful and orderly Bohol, the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) is setting aside a budget of P419,008,047 for Bohol’s 2023 peace and order programs.

Around 45 members of the PPOC who are from agencies and sectoral representatives mostly coming from the government sector, met for the first time in 2023.

As it stands, the PPOC identified 55 projects and programs aiming to maintain peace and order in Bohol.

Of the 55 programs, projects and activities which the PPOC funds for 2023, twenty-two (22) of these are for community intervention especially in fighting off poverty and joblessness in the far communities, one of the roots of criminalities and insurrection.

The PPOC has allocated over P200 million for projects relating to agriculture and its development while developing local food production and starting enterprises to create jobs.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and the Provincial Veterinarian are tasked to implement programs on organic agriculture development, its acquisition of equipment, rice program, acquisition and distribution of rice hybrid seeds, fertilizer assistance to inbred rice farmers, rice buyback program, corn program, acquisition of hybrid yellow corn seeds, procurement of inorganic fertilizer, distribution of agricultural materials for corn farms.

There are fund allocations for high value commercial crop production, acquisition and distribution of farm equipment, fisheries resource management and development program and fisheries modernization and support services.   

The Provincial Veterinarian will spend for the Barangay Livestock Aides, livestock enterprises and poultry production support program, among others.

Around P33 million is earmarked for the Center for Drug Education and Counseling, sports development and fitness program for the youth, youth development programs, drug testing program, Rehabilitation and Improvement of drug testing and laboratory facilities, Bohol Crisis and Intervention Center and the Bohol Youth Home get a share of the P33 million.

The PPOC has also allocated funds for the enhanced comprehensive local integration program for former rebels, assistance to indigents in crisis situations, support to the national task force on the end local communist armed conflict, livelihood assistance program, civil society organization assistance programs, trainings for cooperatives, support for local government unit (LGU) waterworks programs, support for rural electrification program, medicines for the barangay, legal assistance program, and support for roads development. 

These funds are coursed through the Provincial Health Office, Office of the Social Welfare and Development, Provincial Legal Office, and the Office of the Governor.
