BISU expresses appreciation to Angara, Chatto for helping College of Medicine

The Bohol Island State University (BISU) showed its appreciation to 2 legislators for the latter’s help in securing budget from the General Appropriations Act of 2023 for the University’s College of Medicine.

In a post on Jan. 23, 2023, BISU said it extends its heartfelt thanks and warmest gratitude to Sen. Sonny Angara for the immense support in spearheading the initiative to fund the ¹College of Medicine.

Another post was dedicated to Chatto for his participation in the securing of funds for the College of Medicine.

The funds earmarked for the College of Medicine from the national budget is P102,675,000.

Chatto worked tirelessly to help establish a College of Medicine in Bohol as it is a fact that Boholanos still need to go to other outside of Tagbilaran to study medicine.

Chatto went out of his way to talk to the key officials of other Universities in Bohol and they decided that they will be establishing the College of Medicine while the other schools will provide the pre-medicine training.

The need for more Boholano doctors was highlighted at the height of the pandemic, thus the need to have a facility to train additional physicians to work in the province.
