Top pulmonologist believes climate change can indirectly start a pandemic
Dr. Bryan Cepedoza believes that climate change may be an indirect reason for a pandemic to start.
He made the statement during his regular radio interview over Newsmakers ug Uban Pa program on Jan. 18, 2023, hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado.
The doctor said that wildlife in forests may also harbor viruses unknown to man. The changes in the climate may drive these creatures to get closer to humans and as a result there will be certain viruses that may in transfer from animals to human beings.
It is widely believed that the virus causing Covid may have originated from bats or pangolins. Pangolins are scaly animals that feed on ants. They are scaly creatures.
People who get exposed to wildlife run a huge risk of getting infected by a unique virus and there is no vaccine yet for this type of virus. In turn, when the infection spreads, it may end up causing a pandemic of the global magnitude.
It is also possible that wildlife may end up living with humans because the former’s habitat has been destroyed. In this manner, the wildlife could end up spreading viruses unknown to humans and may cause massive health issues.
Normally, viruses in animals may not be a problem for humans. It is only when the virus mutates and will become able to infect humans, eventually causing problems similar to what happened during the Covid pandemic.
The doctor also said that people ought to improve their immune system in order to repel any kind of infection that comes around.
