Baclayon mayor Alvin Uy salutes the winners of the 3rd Ubi Cook-Off 2023 who are from the said town.
Mayor Uy, in a post, congratulated Robin and Sylvia Hewings of Marqis Sunrise Sunset Resort, for capturing the top prize in the 3rd Ubi Cook-Off which is part of the Ubi Festival held at the old Tagbilaran airport.
The 3rd Ubi Cook-Off is a way to showcase the culinary prowess of Boholanos using UBI as the main ingredient of the dish entry.
The Ubi Festival is an annual event backed by the Provincial Government of Bohol. It is now on its 22nd edition.
Ubi is known to be one of the staple foods of the Boholanos and also serves as a source of livelihood for some farmers and their families.
The festival started on Jan. 26 and ended on Jan. 30, 2023 as the event highlighted the value of Ubi to many of the province’s farmers.
The root crop is very important to the Boholano as it is mentioned in the provincial hymn and it is known to be as Bohol’s agricultural symbol.
