Top pulmonogist supports WHO’s decision re Covid   emergency status

Top pulmonologist Dr. Bryan Cepedoza supports the decision of the World Health Organization (WHO) to retain the status of the Coronavirus disease (Covid) as a public health emergency.

The doctor issued the statement during his radio interview over dyTR-AM’s “Newsmakers ug Uban Pa” program hosted by Ardy Araneta-Batoy and Dave Albarado on Feb. 1, 2023.

The doctor remarked,”Tinood nang giingon sa World Health Organization nga kining Covid bisan ning hinay na karon threat gihapon sa atong panlawas gumikan kay sa iyang [Covid]  pagkainfectious kaayo, dali ra sya makatakod.”

Cepedoza said that if the virus gets transmitted from one person to another often, there is a huge chance the virus mutates into a severe form which could overwhelm the people’s immune system and cause huge numbers of fatalities.

The doctor illustrated the possible scenario using the flu virus as an example. Usually, the flu virus is benign or something people shouldn’t worry about. However, the flu virus may all of a sudden mutate to a more infectious form and cause widespread hospitalization, just like what happened to the H1N1 flu virus.

The doctor continued: “Ang problema sa virus pwede silang magmutate sa mas severe [form] ug dili makaila ang atong immune system ug dili makapanagang ang atong immune system. Mao ni ang problema aning Covid.”

Moreover, Cepedoza said that there is a high probability that the Covid virus mutates into a severe form because it is highly contagious.

He explained: “Ang virus gani nga paspas motransfer from one person to another person, taas pod ang tsansa nga momutate na sila [Covid virus].”
