Authorities eye on tighter security on entry point to prevent entry of drugs into Bohol

Authorities are looking at tightening the security at the entry points in the province in order to prevent the entry of drugs here coming from other provinces.

Provincial police director Col. Lorenzo Batuan said that it is important to monitor the entry and exit of passengers at the ports of entry here to ensure no drugs enter or exit Bohol.

The monitoring should extend to the vehicles entering and exiting Bohol via ro-ro vessels as these can be used to transport drugs into the province.

Batuan floated the idea of tightening the security at the ports of entry following the incident at Allen, Northern Samar where around P69 million worth of materials alleged to be shabu were confiscated.

According to authorities, the materials believed to be shabu were supposed to be transported to other areas in the country possibly including Bohol.

The authorities are looking to deploy K-9 dogs as part of the measure to monitor and prevent the possible entry of drugs into the province.
