<strong>Panglao mayor releases gag order on executive dept. employees’ attendance in official functions</strong><strong></strong>

Panglao mayor Eduardo Arcay has issued an order restricting the attendance in official meetings or hearings of employees of the executive department of the local government unit (LGU).

In a memorandum signed by the mayor dated Jan. 26, 2023, the mayor restricted the attendance of employees to meetings, sessions and conferences.

The employees of the LGU’s executive department may attend such activities only if there is a written authority from the office of the mayor of Panglao.

The mayor directed every employee of the executive department, department heads, contract of service workers, collectors, workers at the Bantay Dagat, to ask the permission of the mayor prior to THEIR attending the meetings, sessions and conferences.

Any invitation for conferences, meetings or sessions shall be forwarded to the office of the mayor in order to be given an authorization to attend such activity, according to the memorandum.

The invitation should be forwarded to the mayor’s office a week prior to the activity that the employee is supposed to attend, the memorandum added.

Arcay said that any employee who violates the said directive will face sanctions.
