<strong>Candijay police chief passes away</strong>

Candijay’s chief of police Maj. Gerald Luna died on the early morning of Feb. 20, 2023, Lt. Col. Joseph Berondo, the spokesman of Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) , confirmed to The Bohol Tribune.

A report from the BPPO said that Luna expired in a local hospital due to lingering illness in the lungs.

Luna, 45, was a resident of barangay Mayuga, Guindulman and held the helm of the Candijay police station at the time of his death.

According to the report, the Candijay police chief was confined in a hospital in Tagbilaran City due to his lingering illness on Feb. 13, 2023.

Moreover, Luna expired at around 12:10 am of Feb. 20, 2023 or seven days from the time of his admission in the hospital.

As this developed, Third District Rep. Kristine Alexie Tutor and husband Candijay vice mayor Christopher Tutor, via a post on Facebook, paid tribute to the contributions of Luna to the maintenance of the peace and order of the said town.

On the other hand, Dauis vice mayor Marietta Sumaylo via a post on Facebook also paid tribute to Luna. Luna used to be the chief of police of Dauis at the height of the pandemic.

Sumaylo said in her post: “Daghan salamat COP[Chief of Police] Gerald Luna. Nagserbisyo ka sa lungsod sa Dauis sa taas na higayon nga sensiro og matinud anon. Saludo mi sa imong kaligdon og kaboutan.  

Rest in Peace COP Gerald Luna.”
