<strong>Police, school officials hold drug and anti-terrorism symposium</strong><strong></strong>

The Guindulman Municipal Police Station, in partnership with other government agencies and school officials, conducted a drug and anti-terrorism symposium for senior high school learners of Catungawan National High School and Guinacot National High School on March 3, 2023.

The symposium aimed to educate the students about the ill-effects of illegal drugs and the provisions of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. It also discussed the threats of terrorism and how to prevent radicalization among the youth.

PCPT Jurell Curayag Darunday, Chief of Police of Guindulman MPS, led the symposium together with members of Anti-Com Bohol and staff from NICA VII. They were joined by Mrs. Eufemia R. Casocot, School Principal of Catungawan NHS; Mr. Felix E. Tinampay, Barkada Kontra Druga School Coordinator; Mr. Alex C. Besagas, Principal I of Guinacot NHS; and Mr. Ronald T. Salada Ph.D., Assistant Principal.

Pastor Everjesto Alingig and Pastor Ezer David Alingig, Faith Based Volunteers/Spiritual Advisers also attended the symposium and shared their words of wisdom to the attendees.

The symposium is part of the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program of DILG that aims to encourage community participation in combating illegal drug use incorporation of the Revitalized PNP KASIMBAYANAN.

The BIDA Program is described as an intensified and more holistic campaign against illegal drugs that involves local government units, national government agencies, private sectors, faith-based organizations, civil society organizations and other key sectors of society.

DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” C. Abalos Jr. said that BIDA Program is in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration’s commitment to continue the campaign against illegal drugs “within the framework of law and with respect for human rights and with focus on rehabilitation and socio-economic development”.
