<strong>10-wheeler truck causes multiple-vehicle collision in Tagbilaran City</strong>

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – A speeding 10-wheeler flatbed truck caused a multiple-vehicle collision along Tamblot Street and CPG Avenue in Tagbilaran City on Friday afternoon, March 10, 2023.

According to Tagbilaran Mayor Jane Cajes-Yap, who posted the incident update on her Facebook page, the truck driver lost control of his vehicle and swerved to the opposite lane, hitting around eight various vehicles before he managed to stop.

The vehicles that were hit by the truck included four tricycles, one Toyota Wigo, one Mitsubishi Mirage, three motorcycles, one multicab and one pickup.

The accident resulted in eight injuries: six with abrasions and fractures and two severely wounded.

The injured victims were identified as Glenn Guilo of Booy village, this city; Olivio Namoc of Valencia town; Mercedes Supero; Aniseta Supero Baay; Gwynn Dologon; Bridgett Sobrado of Cogon, Tagbilaran; Mario Tangkawan of Catigbian town; and Josefa Birad of Sevilla town.

The driver of the truck was identified as Nerio C. Macabecha, 54 years old of Jagna town.

The victims were immediately attended to by the Tagbilaran City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and Tarsier 117 personnel who transported them to the hospital. Some refused to be brought as they only had minor abrasions.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Traffic Investigation Unit investigated the incident and set up perimeter security while the City Traffic Management Office (CTMO) managed the traffic in the area.

Mayor Yap said that rescue operations were completed by 3:00 p.m. and traffic was normalized. 

She urged motorists to drive safely and follow traffic rules to avoid such accidents.
