NEW EXECUTIVE ORDER AIMED AT STRENGTHENING BOHOL’S DEFENSE AGAINST ASF

Bohol Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado signed Executive Order No. 14, series of 2023, on March 26, which directs concerned law enforcement agencies and LGU officials and personnel to enforce Provincial Ordinance No. 2022-11, which prohibits the entry of live pigs, pork, pork products, and frozen semen from ASF-affected areas.

The said ordinance is ordered to be implemented strictly and directs the said officials to ‘administratively collect the fines from violators or file the complaint in court if not administratively settled; including the impoundment of motor vehicles, bancas, motorized pump boats, speed boats, and other similar vessels for being used in the commission of the crime as provided by existing laws.

The said executive order is aimed at strengthening Bohol’s defense against ASF or African Swine Fever.

ASF is a highly contagious viral disease that affects domestic and wild pigs. It can spread rapidly in pig populations and can cause serious economic losses in affected countries.
