The Food and Agriculture Organization – Philippines (FAO) has launched a new initiative funded by the Japanese Government worth US$1,872,911 to restore livelihoods destroyed by Typhoon Odette and strengthen climate resiliency in communities.
The project is called “Restoring Livelihoods and Enhancing Resilience of Farmers and Fisherfolks Affected by Typhoon” and will be implemented in three provinces in the Philippines, including Bohol.
FAO Philippines will facilitate the project while three LGUs from Bohol will be chosen as recipients after thorough selection by the organization.
The project aims to employ interventions to meet the needs of those affected and bring back their sources of livelihood.
During the initial meeting held last March 23 at JJ’s Seafood Village in Tagbilaran City, representatives from FAO Philippines were Ms. Gay Therese M. Bucol, Project Team Leader; Mr. Julian Macadamia, Provincial Field Coordinator; and Mr. Godardo L. Juanich, Fisheries Specialist.
On the other hand, Atty. Filipina A. Piollo (Chief of Staff, Office of the Governor), Mr. Metodio “John” C. Maraguinot (Strategic Planning Officer), Ms. Mary Queen Atup (Head, Fisheries Division, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist), and Ms. Gertrudes S. Fuentes (Head, Crops Division, OPA) represented the Provincial Government of Bohol.
The project is aimed at putting back livelihoods destroyed by Typhoon Odette and strengthening climate resiliency in communities.
