PCC Conducts Investigation for Artificial Insemination of Carabaos in Jagna

Jagna’s Livestock Coordinator Jhoana Marie Rosario and Technician for Large Ruminants Artemio Cadeliña conducted an investigation for carabaos that could be artificially inseminated on March 27, 2023.

The technicians from the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) Rizalito Bangot, Franklin Anoos, Ahl G. Canda, Jeson Dupaldo along with their OJT’s assisted Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) in this endeavor.

The investigation was conducted in Barangay Buyog and Balili because these are the barangays with the highest population of these animals.

The group examined each carabao that is three (3) months old or older to see if it is possible to inject hormones to induce ovulation.

After three days of ovulation, the carabao is injected with artificial insemination where its semen is upgraded at PCC.

The group also conducted on-the-spot AI for carabaos that have already given birth and injected them with vitamins, deworming agents, and Hemosep vaccination.

This service shows the continuous efforts of Jagna Mayor Joseph Rañola in the livestock section for the continuous development of agriculture in the town.
