PhilHealth and Bohol Local Chief Executives Commit to Implementing Universal Health Care Act in Rural Health Units

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) held an educational discussion with Bohol Local Chief Executives (LCEs) to promote the implementation of the Universal Health Care Act (UHC) in rural health units in the Province recently at the Ceremonial Hall of the New Capitol Building.

The Social Health Insurance Education Series (SHInES) is a nationwide information drive that started in 2012, targeting LCEs and informing them on the role of local governance in implementing quality healthcare services to Filipinos, especially those living in rural areas.

During the event, 11 Bohol Municipal Mayors, together with Municipal Health Officers and other LGU representatives were present at the familiarization drive on the UHC and the Special Health Fund.

A ceremonial commitment signing also took place with the Provincial Administrator Asteria Caberte, Bohol Local Chief Executives (LCEs) committing to helping PhilHealth’s initiative towards medical equity for Boholanos through adapting the Konsulta Package in Rural Health Units and other accredited medical facilities in the Province.

According to Caberte, the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) is committed to implementing the UHC in the Province’s Healthcare system, with 99 rural health units in Bohol adopting the Konsulta Package in their services.
