Retired police officer shot dead in Ubay town

UBAY, BOHOL – A retired police officer was shot dead while his nephew was injured in Brgy. Calanggaman, Ubay town past 7:15 pm yesterday, Monday.

Retired Police Leonardo Hoylar was killed on the spot after being shot several times while his nephew and companion, who was also hit by a bullet, identified as Lyndon, 17 years old, is still being treated at the Ubay District Hospital.

In the initial report from Ubay PNP, the victims came from Candijay town attending to a cockfighting event. The victims were riding a private vehicle driven by the victim when they were ambushed by riding-in-tandem assassins.

According to reports, the victim’s vehicle was suddenly shot at by riding-in-tandem suspects causing it to crash into a ricefield area.

The police are still conducting a hot pursuit operation to arrest the suspects who shot the retired police officer.

According to Ubay PNP, they are now focusing on a possible motive related to cockfighting.
