A LENTEN REFLECTION

When all we have are hate and anger in our hearts, what does that make us? When all we can think of are ways to put another man down, does it make us any better than him?

In everything we do, let us always remember that the  consequences of our actions may come to haunt us one day. Karma is a “universal law ” of retribution and reaction, undefined in our legal books but as sure as the sun sets, will one day come back to us.

Karma may be in the form of positive energy. Good karma comes as a way of rewarding us for the good things we do and pass on to others.

Yet, when we sow the wind, we reap the whirlwind. Negative energy could come to torment us many times over for all the bad we do. For no evil deed goes unpunished even if we think we may have gotten away with it. The wicked may thrive and flourish in this earth, but at the end of days, justice will be served as the Lord has promised.

Believers and non-believers alike, suffer the same fate according to how they live their lives on this earth. Religious or not, the laws of the universe bring order amid the chaos.

This season of Lent is a time of reflection and meditation. It is a time to look at ourselves and see the inner us. Have we done good? Have we lived our lives to the best we could?

As we live in a society, have we done our share to  make things better or worse? We must live life happily to make others happy. To promote harmony and goodwill. we must be at peace with ourselves.A miserable man hates happy people for he wants others to share his fate.

Yet, hope is not lost. Our lives are the product of the choices we make. It is not too late to change and mend our ways. As we ponder upon our fate, looking at Christ on the Cross, we must also look at our own crosses. Good or bad, our karma is our choice.

What shall it be?
