DILG-Bohol conducts BIDA Drug Symposium to counter proliferation of illegal drugs

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Bohol conducted its first quarter BIDA follow-through activity with the BIDA Drug Symposium at Coco Mango’s Place Resort, Danao, Panglao recently.

The BIDA Program is a holistic approach in countering the proliferation of illegal and dangerous drugs. It strengthens supply and demand reduction efforts by galvanizing the support of the community, duty-bearers, and other stakeholders in drug use prevention, law enforcement and rehabilitation.

Ultimately, BIDA seeks to improve the quality of life and safeguard the Filipino people from criminality and the ill effects of drugs, in a manner that is within the framework of law and with respect for human rights.

The symposium was attended by students from various universities such as University of Bohol, Bohol Institute of Technology- International College Main Campus, Holy Name University – Official, Mater Dei College and Tagbilaran City College.

Members from Youth lead Philippines, Inc. Bohol and Sangguniang Kabataan Officials from Panglao, Buenavista and Batuan were also present.

Information officer Elenita Mulato from the PDEA Bohol Provincial Office discussed on the Ill Effects of Illegal Drugs while PLtCol Joseph Berondo from the Bohol Police Provincial Office discussed the “Legal Consequences of Illegal Drug Use and Possession.”
