The Provincial Government of Bohol recently held an exit meeting for site validation activities for proposed Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) projects under the PRDP Scale Up. The aim of these projects is to make it easier to deliver agricultural products and improve the lives of residents in the villages.
PRDP stands for Philippine Rural Development Project. It is a six-year national project under the Department of Agriculture (DA) that aims to establish a modern, value chain-oriented and climate-resilient agriculture and fisheries sector. In partnership with local government units (LGUs) and the private sector, the Project provides key infrastructure, facilities, technology and information to raise incomes, productivity and competitiveness in targeted areas. The project is jointly funded by the World Bank, the National Government and the participating LGUs.
During the meeting, five proposed FMR projects were presented. These projects will cover the municipalities of San Isidro, Catigbian, San Miguel, Trinidad, Getafe, Talibon, Ubay, Mabini, Alicia, Carmen and Valencia. The government hopes that if these projects are approved and completed, they will further develop the areas along these roads and help facilitate the delivery of products.
The Provincial Government of Bohol remains committed to supporting its farmers and improving their livelihoods. With the implementation of these FMR projects, the government hopes to make a positive impact on the lives of its residents.
