6 Bohol Agro Associations Receive I-REAP Subprojects from DA and World Bank

Bohol, Philippines – Six agro associations in Bohol received subprojects from the Investment in Rural Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries Productivity (I-REAP) program during a turnover ceremony at the Provincial Capitol Building on April 24, 2023.

The subprojects were awarded in collaboration with the World Bank and the Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP).

The six cooperative groups that received the subprojects are the Kinagbaan Coconut Farmers and Processors Organization, the Bohol Upland Farmers Federation of Cooperatives, the Bohol Dairy Producers Association, the Loon United Business Initiatives Multi-purpose Cooperative, Alumar Farmers and Fishermen Association, and the Bohol Concerned Citizen’s Action for Progress.

The I-REAP subprojects aim to uplift Bohol’s micro and rural agroindustries by strengthening local economic growth through seaweed production, dairy processing, vegetable production, native chicken breeding, coco-processing, and virgin coconut oil production.

The DA hopes to increase income, enhance farm and fishing productivity, and promote self-sufficiency among rural agricultural sectors in Bohol through its continued partnership with the Provincial Government.

The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) is a six-year national government project implemented by the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The project aims to increase rural incomes and enhance farm and fishery productivity in 16 regions and 80 provinces, making the agriculture and fishery sector more market-oriented and climate-resilient.

To achieve its objectives, the PRDP implements four inter-related components: Local and National Planning (I-PLAN), Infrastructure Development (I-BUILD), Enterprise Development (I-REAP), and Project Support (I-SUPPORT).

This project will directly contribute to increasing agricultural productivity and incomes of small-scale food producers and ensuring sustainable food production systems.
