Bohol remains on Alert Level 2 for COVID-19 since June 2022, according to the Inter-
Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).
However, Tagbilaran and 18 municipalities remain on Alert Level 1, as per IATF’s
Resolution No. 6-C released last April 14, 2023.
The municipalities on Alert Level 1 include Albuquerque, Balilihan, Batuan, Calape,
Corella, Dimiao, Duero, Garcia Hernandez, Jagna, Lila, Loay, Loboc, Maribojoc, Carlos
P. Garcia, San Isidro, San Miguel, Sevilla and Sikatuna.
As of April 23, 2023, the Province recorded a total of 17 active cases of COVID-19 with
13 experiencing mild symptoms and 3 asymptomatic while one case is moderate
according to the Bohol Inter-Agency Task Force’s website.
In light of a new strain of COVID-19 known as Omicron strain XBB1.5 detected in the
country in February 2023, the Provincial Government assures all Boholanos that they
are closely monitoring the situation and advises residents to adhere to minimum health
standards to ensure their safety from the virus.
The Bohol Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF) for COVID-19 is aiming to lower the
province’s COVID-19 classification through a mass vaccination campaign for the A2
population, or senior citizens.
The campaign is set to run from May to September this year and aims to increase
vaccination rates among the A2 population to 70 percent.
The BIATF convened on April 25 to discuss efforts in lowering the classification after the
Department of Health (DOH) announced that the province remains in Alert Level 2.
Despite this classification, some areas in Bohol remain on Level 1, according to IATF’s
Resolution No. 6-C, released last April 14, 2023.
The BIATF clarified that the province’s alert level status did not escalate and has
remained on Level 2 since June 2022.
No travel restrictions have been ordered by the Provincial Government, with tourists still
welcome to visit Bohol.
The Local Inter-Agency Task Force advised Boholanos to follow existing health
protocols and encouraged the wearing of masks indoors to avoid the risk of COVID-19.
With an ongoing campaign starting next month, BIATF hopes to mobilize more
Boholanos to get vaccinated to protect themselves from COVID-19 and to avoid
potential surges in the Province, especially after the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.9.1 was
detected in the country.
