Loay Couple Survives Shooting in Possible Drug-Related Attack

A couple was shot and wounded the other night in what police believe
may have been a drug-related attack.
The victims, Hermes Barete, 36, and Razel Cagabcab, 40, both from
Yanangan, Loay, were injured but survived the attack.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the suspects, Clark
Cimafranca, 23, and Mike Arong, 18, both from Tiptip, Tagbilaran City,
were arrested. The PNP has released a picture of the suspects.
The victims were riding motorcycles when they were shot by the
suspects who were also on motorcycles.
This incident comes just weeks after a security escort was killed during a
robbery at a gas station in Ubay.
In response to the recent increase in Bohol, Tagbilaran Bishop Abet Uy
and Talibon Bishop Daniel Patrick Parcon have called for an end to the
killings in Bohol.
This follows the separate ambushes of a retired police barangay
councilor and a cockfight mediator in Ubay last February-March.
There is no update from the PNP on whether suspects have been
identified or arrested in connection with the Ubay assassination.

Three people were arrested in connection with the robbery-murder in
Ubay but were reportedly released due to a “technicality” in their arrest.
Illicit drug use and addiction continue to be rampant problems in Bohol.
