NOW SHOWING
“The Covenant” at
Screenville Cinemas
An American soldier owes his life to an Afghan interpreter after
surviving an ambush, and determined to repay that debt in an equally
potentially suicidal manner in Guy Ritchie’s war thriller, “The Covenant”, now
showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City Mall and Alturas Mall.
During the war in Afghanistan in March 2018, a local interpreter
Ahmed (Dar Salim) risks his own life to save the badly-wounded US Army
Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal-“Brokeback Mountain”) whom he
carries through treacherous desert mountain terrains away from enemy
territory, for 100 kilometers back to base camp. They survive but Ahmed is
now being hunted down by the Taliban after his heroic efforts.
For his safety, Ahmed was promised a US visa for himself and his
family to have a safe passage to the US, but did not receive it. Over several
weeks, Kinley tries all diplomatic means to help Ahmed. When U.S.
authorities refuse to respond, now is the time for Kinley to repay his debt by
returning to the war zone in Afghanistan to rescue Ahmed and his family
before the Taliban kills them.

“THE COVENANT” is now showing at Screenville Cinemas of Island City
Mall and Alturas Mall.

“Fast & Furious 10” at

that Reyes’ son witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years
