Tagbilaran City crafts digital roadmap with DICT

The City Government of Tagbilaran is partnering with the
Department of Information and Communications Technology
(DICT) in the creation of the Tagbilaran City Digital Roadmap.
The partnership was forged during the visit here of DICT
Undersecretary Jocelle Batapa Sigue on May 5, 2023.
The Tagbilaran City Digital Roadmap aims to create a clear
direction for the city’s digital transformation, with the goal of
becoming a smart city.
It also aims to improve the city’s digital infrastructure,
particularly in the areas of e-governance, education, and health
services.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap, together with City
Administrator Cathelyn Torremocha, CMO Chief of Staff John
Geesnell Yap II and other city officials welcomed USec. Sigue
and her team during the said visit.

The meeting, which was convened to discuss the roadmap’s
framework and strategies, also included representatives from
various sectors, including the academe, industry, and civil
society.
During the meeting, Mayor Yap expressed her gratitude to the
Undersecretary, for the latter’s visit to Tagbilaran and the
DICT’s support in the city’s digitalization efforts.
Mayor Yap also reiterated the city’s commitment to leveraging
technology for the benefit of the people.
“We are thankful for the DICT’s support in crafting our digital
roadmap. This will help us achieve our vision of becoming a
smart city that is responsive to the needs of its constituents,”
Yap said.
In her message, USec. Sigue emphasized the importance of
collaboration and coordination among stakeholders in the
crafting of the roadmap.
Sigue also highlighted the DICT’s commitment to supporting
Tagbilaran’s digital transformation and building the capacity of
its people.
The crafting of the Tagbilaran City Digital Roadmap is part of
the DICT’s Digital Cities 2025 program, which aims to transform
cities and municipalities into smart cities by 2025. The program
provides technical assistance, capacity-building, and funding
support to local governments in their digitalization efforts.
