The Darna and the Valentina in our lives

Darna and Valentina are characters that are products of
Mars Ravelo’s imagination. But they are just symbols of
what is going on in our society today.
Darna has an extraordinary talent to protect the
downtrodden and the timawa of our society today. She
protects the people for the injustices done to them:
Private persons and those in government who are
abusing the people they ought to protect and serve.
On the other hand Valentina personifies the role of the
protector of the powers that be who pledge to serve and
protect the people whom they promised to serve and
protect.
Looking at what is happening today, ganahan gyud
unta ko ug naa si Darna, he he he he aron
matabangan ang atong sitwasyon, labi na ang mga
kalihukan sa political parties. Political party
alignments are already in progress. Look at them and
analyze the latest news. Nagsugod na ang mga
alignments sa national level bisan ug baranay
elections pa ang atong gipangandaman.
Darna, hain ka na? ha ha ha ha!
How I wish we would go back to the two-party system:
the liberal party and the nacionalista party with each
party having its own party values and ideals. This way it

will not be easy to jump to the nationalista party coming
from the liberal or vice versa. The practice of transfering
from one party to the other was called the practice of the
political butterfly.
But in the 2-party system, it will be a big shame to play
political butterfly. Within the 2-party system, party
loyalists would not welcome the balimbings. Perhaps
now, it’s no longer the fruit balimbing is not anymore
the fitting description of the political butterfly. I would
rather represent him/her as the durian kay maayo
moligid unya nagdala ug daghang tunok.
Darna, hain ka na arong bontugon nimo sila nga
mga Valentina. He he he he! Kinsa kaha ang
modaug: Si Valentina o si Darna. Abangan!

Darna

Valentina
