Town News-BALILIHAN

Balilihan mayor Pureza Veloso-Chatto (extreme left,
standing) announced that on May 18, 2023, she had to
rush back (from a DILG dialogue) to Balilihan for the SB
session where the Department of Health, Region 7
(DOH-7) presented the latter’s recommendations on
how best to improve the quality of water of the LGU
waterworks. After the ocular inspection of the
environment surrounding the pumping stations and the
water sampling that passed the bacteriological tests, it
was clarified and declared by Engr. Henry Saludar,
sanitary engineer of DOH-7, that the water in Balilihan
only needs chlorination to clean and kill the bacteria in it.
Officials from LGU Balilihan were told that they would be
using a formula which they are going to follow as they
apply chlorine on the water. DOH-7 also gave
recommendations to LGU Balilihan on what to do with
the area surrounding the water sources. DOH-7 said
that there was no need for LGU Balilihan to construct
and put a water treatment facility involving several
stages. For her part, Mayor Pureza Veloso-Chato said
that LGU Balilihan is always ready to comply with the
DOH-7 recommendations. The mayor also sincerely
thanked DOH-7, for acknowledging the LGU’s efforts

and for helping the Balilihan government improve some
more the town’s waterworks system! “Laban lang! Kaya
natin ‘to,” was the mayor’s final statement. Contributed
