Chatto launches online District News Program

First District Cong. Edgar launched on Friday, June 2, 2023, “Kita ug
Atong Kongresista” on his official social media page.
The one hour bi-weekly program streamed live on Facebook is geared
towards providing information on legislative work and its impact to
development in the province and the country.
Chatto explained it is important to give the correct information to the
public, citing social media perils of fake news and cyber bullying which
destroys the moral fiber of society.
In its maiden broadcast, Chatto shared activities just before the
adjournment of Congress including an important meeting with House
Speaker Martin Romualdez, Deputy Speaker Sandro Marcos and
Majority Floor Leader Mannix Dalipe where Chatto sought the support
for the P16Million requirement for the establishment of a full consular
office of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in 2024.
To recall, Chatto filed House Bill 8767 last February 2021 during the
18th Congress which was approved, resulting to House Resolution No.

255, favorably considered by DFA, subject to needed budgetary
allocation.
They also discussed priority measures to address concerns on Climate
Change Adaptation and Mitigation and the implementation of the Bohol
Central Bank Branch Project in Dauis.
Chatto also tackled House Bill No. 605 or the proposed Bohol Island
Special Economic Zone (BISEZ) Act creating a special economic zone in
the municipalities of Maribojoc, Loon, Calape, Tubigon and a meeting to
push for a shelter relocation project in Tubigon under a program of the
National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) through former Usec. Pat
Ruiz and LGU Tubigon led by Mayor William Jao and Vice Mayor Rene
Villaber together with Cong Kiko Benitez and housing agencies for the
implementation of relocation housing for households in Tubigon affected
by earthquake and sea level rise.
He said the bi-weekly program will update Boholanos on latest activities
in the First District, local and national developments to enhance
awareness on Congressional work and its impact on the communities
and the country as a whole, while sharing insights on latest news such
as the designation of Bohol as UNESCO Global Geopark, an initiative
begun when he was then governor and the opening of the Paglawig: the
Boholano Way of Life exhibit at the National Museum Bohol.
The program airs every two weeks, on Fridays at 9:00 in the morning live
on the Edgar M. Chatto Facebook page with chief of staff Atty. Abel
Damalerio as moderator.
